Donation: The Zoological Garden welcomes donations from individuals, groups and organizations. Donations made to the Zoological Garden will support our conservation efforts. Funds can be donated to the Zoological Garden for acquisition of specific animals as desired by the donors. The Garden also welcomes donation of animals to its collection,
Animal Adoption: Individuals or groups may adopt animal(s) of their choice from our collection in the Zoo by supporting the welfare/sustenance of the animal in the Zoo enclosure(s) of adopted animal(s) will have on display the name and logo of the adopting individual or company.
Volunteering: Students and interested individuals may volunteer to serve in the Zoo. Volunteer will be required to submit a written application for consideration
Friend of the Zoo: Become a friend of the zoo. This is a group of animal lovers, to get first information about the Zoo
Museum: The Zoo museum houses a collection of taxidermied animals from the population that lived in the zoo including Haruna & Imade the famous gorilla pair. Also among the displays in the Zoo museum are various animal tooth replica, egg replica, animal foot print and skin as well as animal sculptures.
Education & Research: The mission of the Zoological Garden includes education that provides knowledge about conservation and protection of wildlife. The educational unit undertakes programs that provide information about wildlife biology for different ages and groups within the society. The guided tours which have educative and interactive open visitors to the world of these animals.
History: The University of Ibadan zoological garden was established in 1948 primarily as a menagerie to support teaching and research in the Department of Zoology. It became a full-fledged Zoo in 1974 as the population and diversity of the animal collection increased. The UI zoo serve the purpose of education, leisure and the conservation of animals especially the endangered species.
Vision: The vision of the Zoological Garden is to be a world-class zoo geared towards sustaining the ecosystem by conserving wildlife.
Mission: To serve as a custodian of animal species.
To ensure the conservation and preservation of endangered ones so as to sustain biodiversity.
To contribute to the transformation of the society for the protection of wildlife through education.
To serve as a teaching and research outfit primarily for the Department of Zoology and other departments within the University of Ibadan as well as other institutions.
